Whistleblower Protections

St John Ambulance Australia is committed to strong corporate governance, transparency and integrity. This assists us in working towards our mission and vision, and upholding the values of our organisation and the Order of St John.

A key component of this is a Whistleblower Process and Policy. This seeks to empower individuals to play an active and protected role in eliminating any improper conduct in the workplace.

St John provides access to Stopline – a confidential, independent provider of whistleblowing services who will take full details of your concerns via telephone, mail, email or website. This process preserves anonymity if it is desired.

What can be reported or disclosed?

Any breaches of the Code of Conduct, related policies, and issues that may adversely affect St John may be disclosed. This may include: criminal offences, breach of legal obligation, unsafe behaviour, abuse, harassment or bullying.

Raising a concern

The Whistleblower process and Stopline are available to all St John Ambulance Australia employees, contractors or designated stakeholders, and translation services can be provided if requested. More information is available at the St John Ambulance Australia Online Reporting | Externally Managed Disclosure Portal

As well as the disclosure process, the website provides access to our Codes of Conduct, Whistleblower Policy and answers to some of the most frequently asked questions for your reference. To raise a concern, contact 1300 ST JOHN (360 455) or Stopline

How to access Stopline or take action

1. First Disclosure (direct to organisation)

In the first instance, St John encourages whistleblowers to raise any matter with the Australian Office directly. Individuals can make a disclosure by contacting the Whistleblowing Contact Officer.

The Whistleblowing Contact Officer is a senior manager appointed by the Australian CEO and is therefore an ‘eligible recipient’ under the Corporations Act. This can be done via phone, email or mail.

1. Whistleblowing Hotline (Stopline)

St John has engaged a whistleblowing hotline provider, Stopline, to handle disclosures. This is a confidential, safe and non threatening service that is external to St John and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
