St John Ambulance Australia Ltd is delighted to announce that Brendan Maher has been appointed the new national Chief Executive Officer of the organisation. A highly experienced senior leader and CEO, Brendan succeeds Len Fiori who has recently retired after many decades of service. Brendan will assume his new responsibilities on 10 January 2022.

St John Ambulance Australia Ltd is part of a global family of charities whose mission today is to lead modern first aid and health care services to support community needs. St John in Australia is the leading provider of first aid services and training to the community - which we have served for almost 140 years.

Brendan brings to St John extraordinary experience as a dynamic and respected senior leader and CEO, most recently as Movember’s Global Director of Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, the biggest men’s health charity in the world. He was previously CEO of R U OK? for almost six years, in which time he achieved significant growth and public recognition of the organisation. And his experience and achievements with Lifeline, in senior management and leadership roles over several years, is also a testament to his capacity to understand and navigate complex environments.

Brendan is an influential and decisive leader who has achieved exceptional financial successes, strong and robust relationships with government, corporate and community sectors, and a high level of personal commitment, professionalism, and integrity.

St John Ambulance Australia is delighted to have attracted someone as talented as Brendan—to continue our strong tradition of community service and build upon the outstanding work that is delivered by our members and staff every day. We are confident that in Brendan we have found someone who will lead the organisation with innovation, distinction and integrity.
